QFHEADS

1) Is the Linear System UL listed?
Yes.

2) What is the warranty on the Linear System?
Our product warranty (as with the rest of our products) is one year.

3) In what applications can I use the Linear System?
They can be used anywhere a small lighting source is desired - like under a cabinet, in a cabinet, or as toe space or cove lighting.

4) What is the capacity of the tracks and what material are they made from?
They are 20Amp, and are made  a unique polycarbonate formula for maximum durability and resistance to discoloration over the years of use. The tracks may be field shortened.

5) In what applications do I need to use a track carrier? Can I paint the track carriers?
You will require track carriers when suspending the track from the ceiling or the wall. The track carrier provides rigidity and a finished look. They are made of extruded aluminum, and are available in black, white or gold in 4' and 8' lengths. You may paint them to color-match any interior and you can cut them to the length desired.

6) Do you have any gold tracks??
No - just black and white ones. The track carriers are available in gold. You may install the track in a track carrier if you need gold.

7) How do I suspend a Linear Track from the ceiling? What type of accessories do I need?
You have two ways of doing this. Your first option is to suspend the track from aircraft cables and the second option is with stems. With the aircraft cables (SCK) kit (which consists of two canopies, cables, and hardware), the electrical feed is made through the flexible conduit wire and a live end (SLE). When suspending with a stem kit (SR18, SR24, SR36, SR48), which consist of two canopies and two rods, the power feed is made through one of the canopies and rod with the use of a live end (SLE). For a finished look, you may use the track carrier for rigidity.

8) I need to suspend my linear system from the ceiling, but I don't like the big canopies in the SCK kits. Do I have any other options?
You may use the MIK (2 1/2") canopies in place of the 4 1/2" ones supplied with the SCK.

9) Can I suspend a linear fixture like the regular track system??
No, you can't.

10) Is the Linear System suitable for use outdoors near the sea?
No - they are not recommended for outdoor use.

11) Are all of the connectors feedable?
None of them are. You will require a live end (SLE) with all applications, even if you are using the SFC-150E floating canopy feed.

12) If using the SFC-150E Floating Canopy with Transformer, do I need a live end?
Yes - the SFC-150E gloating canopy conceals a 150W electronic transformer, and acts as a ãconnectorä. There are four outlets in the floating canopy. Tracks can come into the feed to form an ãIä, or ãLä or ãXÆ configuration. Live ends {SLE} are required to power the tracks from the floating feed.

13) Is the linear system low or line voltage?
They are low voltage. They require the use of a transformer.  We have two types - the electronic ones, and the magnetic ones. The SST-60E (60W) or SST-150E (150W)  are electronic transformers. They have a built-in on-off switch and can either be used at the end of the linear  track or in a remote situation. In applications where the transformers are to be concealed, the electronic ones from the EN-12 Series are perfect for the job. The SRT-250M (250W) and the SRT-500M (500W) are magnetic transformers. They are dual voltage - 12V and 24V. The 24V mode is perfect for longer runs to minimize voltage drop. They are to be used in applications that call for a remote transformer.

14) Can the linear system be dimmed?
Yes - when using the SST Series or the EN-12 Series (electronic transformers), regular incandescent dimmers will do. Most household dimmers are 600W. Do not put more than 600W on the dimmer. The SRT Series (magnetic transformers) require low voltage dimmers.

15) Do you have a device that enables me to mount a track 18" from the wall?
Yes - the extension is 16", not 18" from the wall. You will need two SWB kits for each section of track. A live end (SLE) is required to power the track. For a finished look, to conceal the track, the wire and the live end and to provide proper rigidity, you must use a track carrier.

16) How do I achieve the look of a hidden light source under my cabinet?
You may use the SLB Light Baffle (available in white or gold) to shield the light source. They come in 4' and 8' lengths and can be cut to length and they can be painted to color-match any surface.

17) Do you have any linear fixtures in gold?
Yes - the SF-209 is the only fixture in gold as well as black and white. You may choose black or white for the adapter. For example, SF-209-GL/BK indicates a gold head with a black adapter.

18) I have a very narrow space (2") between the track and the wall. Which track head should I use in this situation?
The flexible 214 style is perfect for the job. The 18" gooseneck may be aimed any which way you wish.

19) How many Live Ends do I need for a 40' run of track around the perimeter of a room using SBH-101 fixtures?
The number of live ends required depends on the load. Say you are putting 4 SBH-101 (3W each) fixtures per foot.

Total Wattage = 160 x 3W = 480W
To avoid a voltage drop, we suggest that you use a 500W transformer (on the 12V side) with 2 - 250W outputs and 2 live ends.

20) I need some track lighting for use in the UK. Are linear system rated 50/60 Hz?
You may use the EN-12 Series or the SST Series electronic transformer in this application. Both of these transformers are rated 50/60 Hz. The magnetic ones, SRT Series, however, are only rated 60 Hz.

21) Is there an advantage of using the xenon bulb fixtures over the small halogen fixtures?
No - it is a matter of personal preference. The xenon bulb fixtures are simply smaller profile, and offer the look of a ãhidden light sourceä.

22) Will any of your linear track heads take color lenses?
Yes, all of the small halogen fixtures may be fitted with a variety of color lens, filters and louvers. They simply replace the clear lens that comes with the fixture. The only exception is the SF-214 which requires the addition of a lens clip only available in the MR16 size.
